Manager, Business Development, SEA role from a Life Reinsurer (Singapore)
The Role
The role holder will be responsible for supporting the AVP, Business Development for all marketing activities in SEA; co-ordinating all client visits, regularly meeting clients to discuss their requirements; promote company propositions, support product development initiatives, and support the development of marketing strategies for SEA.
You will also support the AVP, Business Development to manage the delivery of all reinsurance quotes, and propositions to clients. You will have good working knowledge on clients’ requirements, internal policies, internal processes, and market trends, at the same time communicating technical analysis and triage of quotes or product initiatives with Pricing, Underwriting, and Risk teams.
Duties:
- Support the AVP, Business Development in developing relationships with clients’ Reinsurance, Pricing, and Product Development teams to promote company’s technical capability. This includes:
1. Regularly meet face-to-face with clients to understand their reinsurance needs and present the company’s propositions.
2. To be the contact person for assigned clients and in the absence of AVP, Business Development, for all clients
3. Support development of strategies for Malaysia and Singapore
- Work with internal stakeholders in assessing quotes and client requests from technical perspective. This includes:
1. Manage all quotes for SEA, i.e. manage timelines, stakeholders, deliverables, perform triage, and communication with clients. Co-ordinate internal resources to ensure we have a multi-level client contact strategy.
2. Review information provided for quotations, including product spec, reinsurance arrangement, underwriting process, etc.
3. Support line manager with the risk assessment and triage to ensure compliance with internal risk policies and identify next steps to proceed with quotation
- Support the AVP, Business Development in portfolio/treaty management. This includes:
1. Support Inforce Monitoring, MI Reporting, data requests & etc
- Work closely with SEA Business Proposition, Pricing & Underwriting team. This includes:
1. Support with market research, e.g. benchmarking products, population statistics, inforce portfolio analysis, etc when required
2. Work with Product Development team in supporting new product initiatives Support ad-hoc projects as and when required.
3. Support treaties and addendums review
Qualifications & Experience
- Possess recent deep market knowledge of life insurance industry including competitive landscape
- A qualified actuary with at least 4 years of working experience, with Pricing experience and able to solve complex problems.
- Strong analytical skills, combined with sound judgement and commercial awareness, to produce justifiable and practical innovative technical advice even where information is sparse or not available
- Strong understanding of risk, able to call out, and address risk issues promptly
- Strong commercial skills with the ability to reasonably balance the needs of customers and the company in the context of decision making and company strategy / business plans
- Professional image with strong relationship management skills, able to work with people of all levels and to operate independently
- The ability to communicate to technical and complex matters clearly and concisely to people from all backgrounds; both internal and external
- Strong presentation skills, with demonstrable experience of presenting technical subject matter to non-technical stakeholders (both internally and externally)
